FINANCE AND DEVELOPMENT INTERNSHIP
Brighter Lives BTL, Inc. is a startup nonprofit organization that works to do just that–brighten lives. This organization was created to improve the lives of those who have been overlooked by forming initiatives and programs through which members advocate for the advancement of their everyday lives. This is a service-oriented organization, which will work alongside other entities to provide an improved quality of life to communities that are under-resourced. Brighter Lives BTL, Inc. focuses on five target issues, which include, but are not limited to economic inequality, educational inequality, identity-based discrimination, political involvement, and youth empowerment & recreation.

The Finance and Development Intern will be responsible for reviewing and generally supporting the finance and development department of Brighter Lives BTL. This position will receive firsthand knowledge into NPO financial recording protocols (i.e. bookkeeping, federal tax recording, etc.) and development (i.e. fundraising campaigns, appeals, etc.) practices. This position will be fully remote, and more information about physical location will be provided, if necessary. We're hiring for Spring 2021 but there is possibility for a permanent position with the organization. The following are the basic responsibilities of this position:

Recording all monetary movement of the organization as required by law
Keeping keen on financial and legal obligations of nonprofit organizations
Drafting and ensuring adherence to an organizational budget
Planning and assisting in fundraising campaigns and events
Collaborating with organizational management for program proposals
Managing non-financial donations
Supporting organizational administration with donor and member relations

Qualifications:
Enrolled in an accredited college or university (any year/classification) during course of internship
Proficiency in Google Workplace (Docs, Slides, and Sheets primarily)
Access to computer/tablet/etc. with internet access
Experience with Wave, Microsoft Excel and/or similar bookkeeping software preferred
Self-motivated and passionate individuals who bring their personality to their roles, where needed
Sufficient knowledge of or willingness to learn accounting/bookkeeping procedures
Collaborative work and leadership style
Excellent interpersonal, communications, and basic math skills required
Experience with bookkeeping and/or fundraising a plus
Unrelenting creativity, innovation, and enthusiasm required!

Part Time: 10-19 hours/week
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 10AM to 6PM but subject to availability
